How does the Fractionated 1540 Laser work?

The resurfacing laser uses fractional technology, which means the skin is not treated all at once, but rather, only a small fraction of it receives the laser light. It produces tiny columns of deep laser energy, which penetrates the skin to restore it while eliminating surface pigment. The surrounding tissue is left intact, as this allows a faster healing time for the skin to use the body’s natural healing process to create new and healthy tissue. The fractionated laser also stimulates collagen production, which will result in a smoother appearance of wrinkles and scars.

How many treatments do I need?

Since the 1540 Laser is fractionated and less invasive compared to ablative laser procedures, noticeable results can be seen after just one treatment. Patients will usually get the best results with 3-5 sessions spaced three to four weeks apart, followed by optional touch-ups once or twice a year. Treatments can also be combined with IPL for a full face rejuvenation to combat dark spots, redness, fine lines, wrinkles, and scarring. During your consultation, we will talk about your skin type as well as the desired outcome and expectations. As with all treatments, results may vary between individuals.

When’s the best time to get laser skin renewal?

Similar to IPL, people with a tan should not get any treatments involving laser energy. Your skin will be more sensitive to UV light, so it’s best to avoid getting treated in the summer months.

What is the downtime like?

Most patients experience a fast recovery time and minimal downtime, with some mild redness and swelling for a couple of days. Some people may experience possible irritation and/ or inflammation especially if you are prone to breakouts. Generally, redness and swelling will resolve over the course of 3-7 days with your skin looking revitalized 1-2 weeks post-treatment.
